Melissa believes a warm, supportive and accepting environment is important. She takes the time to learn and understand the challenges the clients are working through and believes empathy, respect and compassion are essential parts of the counselling process.
Melissa uses a collaborative approach with clients and tailors the treatment process specific to the client’s needs and enjoys working with adults and couples addressing a variety of concerns.

Melissa uses an integrative and trauma informed approach and will tailor the treatment specific to the client’s needs. She mainly draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and may incorporate Mindfulness, Motivational interviewing, Solution Focused therapy, Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) in the treatment process if appropriate. Melissa primarily draws from Gottman method when working with couples. She is also open to incorporating spirituality into the counselling process if requested by the client.
