Counselling Jobs in Calgary, Alberta: Now Hiring
Living Well Counselling Services is hiring. Counsellor positions are available in Calgary right now, across our Kensington and Inglewood locations. If you are a registered therapist looking to join a private practice, this is worth reading.
Living Well Counselling Services has been in Calgary since 2008. We have steady referrals and a well-established name, and our team understands the realities of therapist burnout. These counselling jobs are built around the kind of practice that therapists actually stay in.
Open Counsellor Job Positions in Calgary
Two roles are currently open. Both stay open until the right candidate starts.
Clinical Counsellor Job: Inglewood and Kensington
This role runs in-person at two of our three Calgary locations. Our intake system builds your client caseload, so you are not starting with an empty calendar. We offer flexible hours, and part-time and full-time arrangements are both considered.
Counsellor Job: Kensington Office
This position runs out of our Kensington location on 14th Street NW. Full-time and part-time scheduling available. The role covers individual and couples counselling across a general adult caseload, with room to focus on your areas of specialty.
Now Hiring: Why Therapists Choose Living Well Counselling
Private practice makes sense on paper until the overhead hits. No referral base. Admin and billing land on you. These roles remove that friction without stripping the autonomy.
Burnout prevention shapes how the practice runs, not just how it gets described. Work-life balance here means the schedule actually belongs to the therapist.
Steady Client Intake from Day One
Our intake system generates consistent client flow. Your calendar fills without cold outreach. That matters most in the first few years of private practice. It also matters after ten years.
Group Supervision and Clinical Support
Group supervision comes with the role. Case consultation is part of the culture here, not an afterthought. A clinical team around you changes how you work. That holds whether you are two years in or twelve.
Flexible Scheduling and Work-Life Balance
Evening and weekend slots exist. Not assigned to you. Therapist wellbeing gets named in a lot of job postings and ignored in practice. At Living Well Counselling Services, the schedule is yours to shape.
18 Years in the Calgary Community
The practice opened in 2008. We have three Calgary locations now and more than 20 therapists on staff. The infrastructure and reputation are there. You join something that already runs.
Counsellor Job Requirements
All counsellor positions at Living Well require registration with an Alberta regulatory body. Here is what applies across the board.
Registration and Credentials
All positions require a master’s degree. Counselling, psychology, social work, or a related field. You need current registration with your Alberta credential body before seeing clients. Registered Psychologists, Registered Social Workers, Certified Counsellors, Registered Provisional Psychologists: all considered.
Out-of-province registration takes time to transfer. Worth reaching out early if you are relocating to Calgary, AB.
Clinical Experience and Specializations
Experience with trauma, anxiety, and depression covers the baseline across most of our caseload. ADHD, couples work, youth, EMDR: if any of those are in your practice, mention them in the application. EMDR certification is a bonus, not a barrier.
The practice serves adults, couples, youth, and families. Experience across more than one area of mental health counselling fits well here.
Counsellor Job Compensation and Scheduling
Living Well Counselling Services pays counsellors per hour of clinical work. $90 to $145 per hour. Rate lands based on your credential type and registration level. Most therapists carry between 5 and 20 clients per week.
Part-time is real here, not just reduced full-time. If you maintain another role or want to build up slowly, the schedule can reflect that. Full-time hours follow for those who want them.
Evening and weekend slots are built into the client-facing model. That does not mean therapists carry assigned evening or weekend shifts. Availability works out in advance.
What Working Here Looks Like
Three physical Calgary locations: Kensington, Inglewood, and Douglasdale. Online counselling is also part of the practice. Most therapists work from one or two locations consistently, with some online sessions in the mix.
The caseload is broad. Anxiety, depression, relationship work, grief, and burnout. That covers most of it. Our mental health counselling services go further depending on the therapist’s background and the clients who come through.
Therapists here describe the culture as collaborative without being intrusive. You run your own sessions. The team is there when you want it.

Do I need Alberta registration to apply?
Yes. You need current registration with an Alberta regulatory body to work with clients. Province transfers take longer than people expect. Get in touch early, and we can work through the timing.
Are the counsellor positions part-time or full-time?
Both work. Part-time starts around 5 client hours per week. Full-time sits closer to 20 or more. The schedule shapes around your arrangement, not the other way.
Is EMDR experience required?
Not required. Heather Nolin holds EMDRIA certification and covers EMDR-specific work at the practice. Trained EMDR therapists are welcome, and that experience is relevant to the application. Absence of EMDR training does not close the door.
Does the role include clinical supervision?
Group supervision comes with the position. Case consultation runs regularly. Provisionally registered and working toward full registration? We work out supervision arrangements during the process.
What types of mental health counsellor roles do you typically hire for?
Primarily, individual therapy for adults. Some youth and couples work depending on the caseload and the therapist’s background. Registered Psychologists, Registered Social Workers, Certified Counsellors, and Registered Provisional Psychologists are all considered when counsellor job openings come up.
