Anya uses her empathy and warmth to create a non-judgmental space where her clients can explore their patterns of being and learn new ways of relating to self and others. Anya has a passion for helping her clients gain insight into the parts of themselves that are holding them back or causing them distress. Therapy can be a vulnerable endeavor, so Anya works collaboratively with her clients to find a pace and direction that feels safe while using respectful challenge to create change for a rich and meaningful life. Anya enjoys working with adults and couples.
Anya holds a Maters of Counselling degree from Gonzaga University in Spokane Washington. She also has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree with distinction from the University of Alberta. She competed her internship and residency at the Calgary Counselling Centre and gained experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Anya believes that each client comes to counselling with unique life experiences and requires a tailor-made approach to their therapy. Anya is person-centred therapist who draws on Internal Family Systems theory and Narrative therapy. Depending on the needs of the client, Anya may also draw on aspects of Mindfulness practice, Self Compassion, and Positive Psychology. Anya also believes in the healing power of nature and may incorporate walk and talk therapy when appropriate.
