Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) is a researched, evidence-based practice that is helpful for those who have experienced trauma, have symptoms of PTSD, or other negative sensations/emotions associated with other diagnoses such as OCD, generalized anxiety, depression, addictions, dyslexia, grief etc. ART is different from traditional talk therapy and allows clients to process out trauma and other negative symptoms people deal with day to day. Clients do not have to tell clinicians details about what’s happened to them and can quickly help them move through negative images, sensations, and emotions using eye movements.

The eye movements are calming and have been shown to produce theta waves in the brain, similar to a meditative state. ART helps to reprogram the way the brain sees the issue so that it no longer triggers strong physical or emotional reactions. Eye movements are like the ones that occur during dreams, but do not involve hypnotherapy. ART sessions have been proven to be effective in helping people achieve rapid recovery from long-term issues and trauma that may have been present for years. ART is considered brief; trauma focused therapy and most individuals experience significant improvement within 1-5 sessions depending on the person’s unique issues and goals.

ART can be used in conjunction with other types of therapy and medical treatments; however, it is always a good idea to consult with a medical doctor for significant health issues such as heart issues or eye issues that would prevent their ability to move their eyes. There is no homework associated with this type of therapy and most people find some relief after one session. ART is safe for people of all ages and different populations such as first responders.
